The Fantasy Dudes have taken a quick look at the NBA's Central Division after the first few weeks of the season. Here are our own power rankings:
Bulls: 5-3
Bucks: 5-5
Pacers: 4-4
Cavs: 4-5
Pistons: 4-7
1. Bulls
Starters: Rose, Bogans, Deng, Gibson, Noah
Leaders: Pts = Rose (23.6), Rebs = Noah (13.3), Assts = Rose (9.5)
Team Stats: 5th in pts scored (105.0), 4th in rebounds (45.5), 4th in assists (23.8) and 13th in pts allowed (100.4).
View: Missed out on big signings in summer, but filled team with valuable pieces and will be a force when Boozer returns in December. Sensational play by Rose and Noah. Tough road schedule coming up agains Houston, SA, Dallas, LAL, Phx and Denver.
2. Bucks:
Starters: Jennings, Salmons, Delfino, Gooden, Bogut
Leaders: Pts = Jennings (15.3), Rebs = Bogut (9.8), Assts = Jennings (6.3)
Team Stats: 30th in pts scored (92.1), 6th in rebounds (44.0), 29th in assts (17.3) and 1st in pts allowed (89.4)
View: Have been solid defensively, and currently allow the least pts allowed in the league, driven by the great play of Bogut and Gooden. Still trying to adjust to playing with so many swingmen, but the 'fear the deer' could again feature in the playoffs. Losses this season have come from Hornets (x 2), Bost, Portland and the Timberwolves.
3. Pacers:
Starters: Collison, Dunleavy, Granger, McRoberts, Hibbert
Leaders: Pts = Granger (20.4), Rebs = Hibbert (9.1), Assts = Collison (4.0)
Team Stats: 10th in pts scored (102.4), 11th in rebounds (42.4), 16th in assts (21.4) and 14th in points allowed (100.4)
View: Have been very streaky, as evidenced by their 54 pts in a quarter last week. Larry Bird got his man in Collison, but he has disappointed thus far. Mixed results this season and will be on the boarder of playoff contention.
4. Cavs:
Starters: Williams, Parker, Moon, Hickson, Varejao
Leaders: Pts = Hickson (16.5), Rbs = Varejao (9.4), Assts = Williams (4.6)
Team Stats: 24th in pts scored (95.9), 28th in rebs (39.1), 19th in assts (20.0) and 11th in pts allowed (99.8).
View: This team saw a significant change in offseason with a one Lebron James taking his talents to south beach, leaving the team built around him to pick up pieces. Surprisingly have struggled at home, but play from JJ Hickson has been encouraging. Will miss the playoffs this season, but should outperform expectations.
5. Pistons:
Starters: Stuckey, Hamilton, Prince, Daye, Wallace:
Leaders: Pts = Stuckey (15.9), Rebs = Wallace (7.9), Assts = Stuckey (5.9)
Team Stats: 26th in pts scored (95.5), 29th in rebounds (38.5), 26th in assts (18.5) and 12th in points allowed (99.9)
View: Multiple players looking at being traded including Hamilton and Prince (expiring contract). A shadow of themselves, this team will fail to compete on a regular basis. The team draws upon a scoring punch off the bench from Gordon and Villaneuva, but did they really need to sign McGrady? The stats don't lie... they are one of the worst teams in the league, hence a long season for their supporters.
